Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland is a 2010 fantasy adventure film directed by Tim Burton, written by Linda Woolverton, and starring Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover, Michael Sheen and Stephen Fry and released by Walt Disney Pictures. In addition to being Burton's highest grossing film, Alice in Wonderland spent three weeks as the #1 movie in the United States, is currently the highest grossing film of 2010, and currently ranks as the fifth highest-grossing film of all time. Bedtime Story

It's 1974, and a man by the name of Marty Bronson (Jonathan Pryce) is narrating a story. The story is about himself as the owner of quaint hotel that is also ran by himself and his 2 children. The daughter (Abigail Droeger), at 12 years old is very serious minded and runs the front desk efficiently. And the son (Thomas Hoffman), at 10 years old, has a wondrous imagination that will take him anywhere. Little do the children know though is that the motel is in debt, and Marty is forced to sell to an English chap by the name of Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths). However, Marty will only sell to Barry under the agreement that his son run the place when he is of age.

Fast forward and we see the quaint hotel quadrupled in size and is no longer a family establishment but more for the rich and famous, and Marty's son Skeeter Bronson (Adam Sandler) is a hotel handyman. And when Nottingham announces plans to build a new hotel he appoints another man named Kendall (Guy Pearce) to become the manager.

After work, Skeeter visits his sister for it is his niece's birthday (whom he hasn't seen in 4 years). There his sister Wendy (Courteney Cox) informs him that the school that the children Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit) and Bobbi (Laura Ann Kesling) attend, that she herself is the principal at, is being closed down and that has to relocate to Arizona for a job and asks Skeeter if he could watch her kids. , Even though Skeeter doesn't know his niece and nephew very well, he agrees.

After the day shift babysitter Jill (Keri Russell) leaves, he settles them into bed and they ask him to read a story. After looking at the lame books that the children have, he refuses to read then and instead makes up his own story. Modeled around his own life, he tells the story of a medieval squire named "Sir Fixalot" and his rival "Sir Buttkiss". Throughout the story the kids make their own additions, such as the king giving Sir Fixalot a chance to prove himself. And that during the celebration, Patrick announces, "that it starts raining gumballs" and the story ends.

The following day, Skeeter is called to fix Nottingham's television and during the visit, he tells Skeeter the "secret" theme that he had announced for the hotela rock and roll theme much like that of the Hard Rock Hotel. When Skeeter points this out he is offered the opportunity to compete with Kendall "to prove himself" for a better theme. And while driving to his sisters house, Skeeter is suddenly greeted with a shower of gumballs raining down from above (which he does not see is caused by a crashed delivery truck). Skeeter concludes that the story had come true and quickly develops a plan to use it to his advantage.

For the next story, he elaborates a Western-theme in which he receives a free "Ferrari" horse from a Native American chief. The children do not corroborate the story, but have him save a damsel in distress from several criminals. They claim he should be rewarded with a kiss, only to have an angry dwarf kick him instead. That night, Skeeter goes out in search of his Ferrari and meets a Native American man who instead steals his wallet. Later, Violet who is hounded by paparazzi, is rescued by the passing Skeeter. Just as he is about to kiss her, he is kicked by an angry dwarf from a nearby fraternity.

From this point, he determines that it is only the changes made by the children that actually affect reality. The following night, Skeeter tries to sell the kids on the theme ideas contest, but they are more interested in romance and action in their stories. The next story begins with Skeeticus, a Greek gladiator who, after impressing the emperor and a stadium of onlookers, attracts the attention of the "fairest maiden". He and the maiden are to walk into a restaurant where all the girls who used to pick on him in high school are sitting at a table, they are to be so impressed by the maiden he is with, they start to nervously sing the "Hokey Pokey". After a meal they are to go for a walk on the beach where a large hairy man is to be washed up on shore that has trouble breathing, and after Skeeticus saves this man's life, a rainstorm sends him and the maiden into a magical cave which has Abraham Lincoln in it. Skeeter loses his patience with the story and upsets the children. Unable to get them to continue, the story ends.

The next day, Skeeter learns that Violet will not be meeting with him per the story design, but unexpectedly runs into Jill, who invites him to lunch. The girls from Skeeter's high school are at the restaurant, so Skeeter asks Jill to pretend to be his girlfriend. After the girls break into the "Hokey Pokey" and Skeeter casually saves the life of a man on the beach, a sudden rainstorm sends them under the dock and he realizes that he is falling in love with her. But the kiss he is about to receive is interrupted as he is reminded about the Abraham Lincoln part of the story as someone walks on the dock above them, and thinking that the real "Abe" is going to appear he ducks. Instead a penny falls through the dock.

For Skeeter and the kids' final night together, a space-themed story begins with Skeeter's character who battles Kendell's character in anti-gravity. Skeeter's hard-to-understand character wins and Skeeter quickly ends the story. Patrick interjects that the story is too predictable and says that Skeeter is then incinerated before ending the story.

At Nottingham's birthday party, among the fiery hazards that Skeeter is trying to avoid, his tongue is stung by a bee, making him hard to understand when competing with Kendall's new Broadway-themed hotel. Nottingham enjoys Skeeter's approach over the showy approach that Kendall had provided. A panic attack on a fiery birthday cake causes Skeeter to be "fired" by Nottingham. Afterward Jill, Patrick, and Bobbi are all upset as they learned where, which Skeeter had just discovered, the hotel was going to be built: on the property of the school which they all work and attend. Wendy believes he did not know, but is upset because he had inadvertently taught the children there are no such things as happy endings. When they attend the demolition to protest, Skeeter is inspired to prevent the school from being demolished. After finding Nottingham an alternative location, Skeeter takes Jill on a wild motorcycle ride which ends at the school and manages to stop the countdown. Sometime later, he marries Jill and founds a hotel named after his late father. Kendall and his scheming partner Aspen (Lucy Lawless) are demoted to Skeeter's hotel wait staff.

Mount and Blade Warband

Great to see the excitement about the expansion pack. We were very excited as well and looking foward to sharing the news with the community.

I see that there are some valid concerns. Let me address them briefly here:

-Multiplayer will not be the only new feature in the expansion pack and we`ll do our best to improve other aspects of the game.

-The main reason we wanted to include multiplayer is so that we can play it ourselves. You can be sure we'll do our best to make it fun. I hate exploits and unrealistic tactics in games as much as you, so we'll do our best to avoid those. We'll also no doubt have some sort of beta program so we'll get feedback from the players before any features are finalized.

-Players will definitely be able to run their own servers, though we want to have some official servers as well.

-Actually, our publishers have never interfered with our creative vision. The reason I opted for implementing multiplayer battles instead of focusing on cooperative multiplayer is because cooperative mp is even more difficult than what we are doing now (since you have to handle map movement, parties, various menu windows and everything else) while at the same time, it is much more restrictive. With the current system, apart from playing against humans, you'll be able to team up with your buddies against any number of AI opponents and play a cooperative game (albeit without the campaign aspect) so in a sense we'll have the best of two worlds.

-We are trying to be very careful to keep compatibility with the existing module system. (So far the only incompatibility is in module_animations) Therefore, porting will hopefully be very easy.

-Of course everything is not rosy and come out we are still at a very early stage and wondering how we'll overcome various hurdles. Compansating for lag is a particular problem, since the game allows you to become up close and personal with your enemies and observing your opponents moves and countering them is so essential. We are trying to be creative here and we'll adjust the gameplay if necessary, but there is only so much we can do and if you are on a slow connection or if the server you are playing at is too far your game may inevitably become somewhat sluggish compared to the single player game. We'll of course try our best to keep that to a minimum.

You might also expect it to be an even more faithful
adaptation of the novels than the film--one that even the
stuffiest Tolkien enthusiasts will enjoy. Unfortunately,
thanks to Fellowship of the Ring's limited gameplay,
only true Tolkien enthusiasts will enjoy the game for very long.

İNCELEME

Her yıl karşımıza onlarca FPS gelir. Bunlardan maalesef çoğu kötü birer Doom, Half Life ya da Call of Duty taklidi oyunlar olur. Taklit olmalarından dolayı çoğunun konusu genellikle gelecekte geçer. Artık o kadar alıştık ki 2100'lü yıllarda dünyayı işgal eden uzaylılarla elimizde ne idüğü belirsiz silahlarla abuk subuk uzay gemilerinin ya da gezegenlerin üzerinde savaşmaya. Ha bazıları türü alır, yenilikler getirir, bir şeyler ekler ve gönlümüzde Prey gibi taht kurar ancak birçoğu başarısız birer kopya olarak disklerimize kurulur ve kısa sürede silinir. Bu kopya FPS'lerin en büyük sorunu ise doğru düzgün bir konuya, hikâye akışına sahip olmamalarıdır. Oysaki yapımcıların önünde tam FPS türüne uygun, cuk diye oturan bir zaman dilimi ve mekân vardır ki nedense hiç biri yıllardır göremez. Evet, vahşi batıdan bahsediyorum.

Ya paranı ya canını

Düşünün bir kere vahşi batıda oynamak isteyeceğiniz hikâyeleri, silahları, karakterleri. Bir Red Kit FPS'si oynamayı istemez miydiniz? Red Kit ile Daltonların peşine düşmek, Daltonlarla posta arabası soymak, Rintintinle�. Rintintinle ne yapılabilir ki??? Ya da "İyi, Kötü ve Çirkin"i hem iyi hem kötü hem de çirkin olarak oynamak istemez miydiniz? Neyse ki Techland bu açığı görmüş olacak ki bir vahşi batı FPS'si ile yani Call of Juarez ile karşımıza çıktı.

Call of Juarez'de görevleri yerine getirirken iki farklı karakteri oynuyoruz. Oyuna başladığımız karakter Billy ve onun üvey amcası Reverend Ray. Billy ile daha çok gâvurun deyişiyle "sneaking" yani, sessizce, saklanarak, fazla aksiyon içermeden, aman ona buna görünmeyelim, ses çıkartmayalım diye sinir stres içerisinde görevleri yerine getirirken Ray ile rakiplerimizin ağzına ağzına vurup üstüne birde okuyup üfleyip aksiyonun tadını alıyoruz. Anlayacağınız üzere Billy'nin silah kullanma becerisi pek yok. Billy ile genelde görevlerimizi gizlilik içerisinde halledeceğiz. Billy, Ray'e göre daha çevik, daha uzun mesafelere atlayabilirken, kullandığı kırbaç ile de ağaç dallarını kullanıp ulaşılması zor yerlere kolaylıkla gidebiliyor. Ray ise her ne kadar Rahip olsa da silah becerisi oldukça yüksek. Öyle ki iki eliyle de silah kullanabiliyor. Billy kadar çevik değil ancak ilk olarak Max Payne ile tanıştığımız "Bullet Time" sayesinde yavaş çekim düşmanlarına ateş edebiliyor. Bu durumda her iki silahında hedefi ekranda yavaşça hareket ederken bize sadece doğru zamanda doğru yerlere her iki silahımızla da ateş etmek kalıyor. Bununla beraber Ray, sürekli yanında taşıdığı kutsal kitabı da kullanarak kovboyları Hak yoluna davet ediyor. Daveti kabul görmezse silahına sarılıyor(cidden).
Çek silahını kovboy

Günlerden bir gün Billy, Juarez'e geri döndüğünde pek de hoş karşılanmıyor. Kasabadan zor bela geçip evine gidip annesinin sıcak yemeklerini yemeyi ümit ederken annesinin ve üvey babasının cesetleri ile karşılaşıyor. Kardeşinin evinde ki silah seslerini haber alan Ray ise eve koştuğunda cesetlerin yanı başında Billy'yi görüyor. Sonrasında kovalamaca başlıyor. Duvarda yazan "Call of Juarez" Billy'yi katillerin ve Aztek'lerin hazinesinin peşine düşürüyor. Ray ise kardeşini Billy'nin öldürdüğünü düşünerek O'nun peşine düşüyor. Oyun boyunca vahşi batıda olması gerektiği gibi sürükleyici ve hızlı bir macera yaşıyoruz. Bir taraftan önce Billy ile görevlerimizi gizlilik içerisinde yerine getirdikten sonra Ray ile Billy'nin geçtiği yerlerden geçip izini takip ediyoruz. Bu şekilde hikâyeye, karakterlere iki farklı perspektiften bakmamız mümkün oluyor. Zaman zaman iki karakterimizin de aynı ekranda buluşması ise oyuna ayrı bir zevk katıyor.

Call of Juarez, altta silah, ortada hedef olmak üzere klasik bir FPS arayüzüne sahip. Karakterlerimiz, diğer birçok FPS'de olduğu gibi eğilebiliyor, zıplayabiliyor, saklandığı yerden sağa sola kafasını uzatarak etrafı kolacan edebiliyor. Silahlarımız arasında ise klasik vahşi batı silahı var: Altıpatlar, tüfek, shotgun, kırbaç, ok, yay, sille tokat tekme, kutsal kitap ve tabii ki bize can veren Whiskey. Bütün bunlarla beraber X tuşuna bastığımızda hedefimizin olduğu yer odaklanıyor, çevresi ise blurlaşıyor. Böylece karakterlerimizle daha efektif nişan alıp ateş edebiliyoruz.

Yakarım Roma'yı da yakarım

Call of Juarez'in oynanabilir demosu yetersiz optimizasyonlarından dolayı bizi hayal kırıklığına uğratmıştı. Öyle ki 6600GTH'ım düşük detay ve çözünürlükte dahi sürüm sürüm sürünmüştü. Ancak oyunumuzda durum değişmiş. 1024x768'de ortalamanın üzerinde detaylarla benim kartımı pek de zorlamadı diyebilirim. Oyunda kullanılan Chrome motoru her ne kadar Half Life motoru gibi etkileyici olmasa da tür için çok ciddi yenilikler taşıyor. Çevre ile etkileşim hat safhada ki bu etkileşim Billy ile oynarken çözülmesi gereken bulmacaların temelini oluşturuyor. Billy ile defalarca önünüze çıkan engelleri itip katarak yolunuzu açacak, hatta kutuları üst üste koyup pencerelere erişebilecek, bir ağacın dalında sallanarak uçurumun bir ucundan diğer ucuna geçeceksiniz. Daha da fazlası oyun içerisinde ateşin sadece olduğu yerde yanıp durmadığını göreceksiniz. Çevresinde ki yanabilir nesneleri de etkisi altına alan ateşe isterseniz çevrenizde göreceğiniz sandalye gibi tahta nesneleri sizde atıp ateşi körükleyebileceksiniz. Benzer kaliteli efektleri su ve gazda da görmek mümkün.

Bir vahşi batı oyunu yapıyorsanız müzikler iki kat önem kazanır. O atmosferi oyuncuya yaşatmak daha da zorlaşır. Yapımcılar müziklerde iyi iş yapmışlar. Her ne kadar beklediğim Country tarzı müzikleri oyunda bulamasam da oyun hikâyesi gereği zaman zaman karamsar zaman zaman aksiyon içeren müzikleri çok iyi kullanmış ve oyuncuya atmosferi tam olarak yaşatmış. Öyle ki Billy ile saklanırken, birisi Billy'yi gördüğünde müzik birden hızlanıyor ve size görüldüğünüzü belli ediyor. Böyle durumlarda gerçekten heyecanlanıp, vücudunuzdan salgılanan adrenalini hissediyorsunuz (Abarttım mı ne?). Benzer şekilde seslendirmeler de bir o kadar kaliteli. Özellikle Ray'in seslendirmesi gerçekten mükemmel. O çirkin surata tam böyle hırıltılı bir ses gerekirdi zaten.

Çoklu oyuncu

Call of Juarez, 9 haritası, farklı modları ve sınıfları ile alışık olmadığımız bir çoklu oyuncu tadı sunuyor. Sniper, Rifleman, Gunslinger, Miner olmak üzere dört sınıf var. Her sınıfta hem kovboy hem de yerli karakterler mevcut ve her sınıfın silahları farklı. Silahlar arasında ise ok, dürbünlü tüfek, klasik tüfek, altıpat, dinamit, shotgun yer alıyor. Deathmatch, Goldrush, Robbery ve Skirmish olmak üzere dört mod Call of Juarez'de bize sunuluyor. Deathmatch, adı üzerinde gördüğünüz bütün kovboyların ağzına ağzına vurmanız gereken mod. Goldrush'da ise rakiplerimizle beraber sağdan soldan altın topluyoruz. Robbery'de, genelde bir takım bir binayı korurken diğer takımın o binadan bir şeyler çalıp bir yerlere götürmesi isteniyor(Bildiğimiz Capture the Flag). Skirmish ise alışageldik üzere Deathmatch'in takımlarla yapıldığı mod. Vahşi batıda çoklu oyuncu oynamanızı şiddetle tavsiye ediyorum. Şu ana kadar gördüğüm en iyi çoklu oyunu sistemlerinden birine sahip Call of Juarez.

İyi

Kaliteli grafikler, efektler, müzikler ve seslendirme ile dört dörtlük bir oyun atmosferi. Oyuncuya gerçekten vahşi batıyı yaşatıyor. Üst katında birbirinden güzel bayanların konuk edildiği barları, tipsiz barmenleri, çirkin kovboyları, kiliseleri, bankaları ve klasik vahşi batı kasabalarını, binalarını, çiftliklerini ve hatta yerlileri oyunda dört dörtlük görmek mümkün. Birbirine zıt iki karakterle kaliteli bir hikâyeyi iki farklı perspektifte oynuyor olmak oyunu genelde sürükleyici kılıyor. Oyunda vahşi batıda bir kovboyun atıldığı bir macerada yapması gereken her şeyi yapıyor olmamız yapımcıların birçok ayrıntıyı düşündüğünü gösteriyor. At binmek ve hatta at çalmak, hırsızlık, altıpat ve tüfek kullanmak vahşi batının kaçınılmaz unsurları olarak Call of Juarez'de karşımızda.
